Criteria for working with us
We are interested in working with smart, growth-oriented organizations that
want to increase their success strategically.
We specialize in working with small-to medium-sized organizations that
require up to $10 million in growth capital for expansions, marketing, and
management buy-outs. Our preferred sectors include: manufacturing, service,
technology, entertainment, green economy, communications and niche-markets.
We work with organizations in other sectors at our discretion, however, we do
not work with direct resource extractors, real estate organizations or start-up
companies.
We look for organizations that have:
- strong margins to support demonstrated profitability
- a proven track record
- been established at least two years
- solid, experienced and forward-thinking management
When we evaluate a prospective client, the questions we ask include:
- Is the business led by a strong management team?
- Does senior management have relevant training and experience in all functional areas, such as in marketing, operations, finance and R&D?
- Is the team ethical and committed?
- Does the organization have a minimum of one year of operational cash flow sufficient to support additional debt?
- Is the organization profitable yet requiring more financing than can be supported by its conventional [senior?] lender?
- Is the business focused on vertical niche markets?
- Are these markets sufficiently large to support several competitors, but small enough to not draw the attention of big players?
- Is the organization well positioned within its niche as a market leader or with potential to be one?
- Does the organization have good relationship with its senior lender
- Does it have an operating [line of?] credit in place?
